Boy! John was the man, but you ROCK dude!
That Rick is TERRIFIC! Is that a right vintage or a reissue? Doesn’t look like the 325 Lennon signature model (different tremolo)… The exact sound! I guess you’re using a Vox AC30… Greetings from Italy!
MJ. Very excellent stuff. I have been wanting to learn many of these tunes for a long time. Your tone is right on with the Casino and of course the 325 Ric. It is really too terrible that the music we have to listen to today doesn’t have the skill or imagination (or a 1/100th of it) that the Beatles offered up.
you have a few of his main elements there, you’ve clarified how his playing is sloppy but accurate enough too which is pure lennon like. fantastic job dude but no ones as excellent as ol’ John!! well done though, loved it…ps like your rick.
As a lifelong Beatles Fan and performing artist who has listened and played this music for more than 40 years, I wish to say that for all of the people who try to sound like John, you have reached a level of playing and understanding that few are able to obtain.
All you need is like. You show that you are a right fan and student who likes this music, the guitar and John’s playing. Gorgeous.
You NAILED the quintessential “Beatles” sound. Fantastic work! I’m guessing you’re using a Vox amp? What you said about “doing as much hurt as possible” is born out by the ancient photos of how the Beatles treated their guitars – just laid around on their backs or front down, didn’t clean them, etc., Lennon’s Original Rick 25 was repaired in 1972 and had a number of things incorrect with it, from incorrect strings on it, terrible wiring, etc.

And if you want to play like John Lennon, always bend your knees and keep some distance between them, like it looks like you are riding a horse.
