Learn To Play Guitar Chords – Finger Exercise One
Prior to starting, you need to know the finger numbering when playing a guitar. Finger number one is the Index finger while finger number four is the pinkie, or small finger. The notes in this exercise are played from the left to right. Start at the 5th fret low E, which is the fattest string. Play four notes to each string, one note at a time using all four fingers like this 1-2-3-4. After that go down to the string A with all four fingers, 1-2-3-4 again. Always alternate the pick down and then up. Continue like so then reverse the process moving back from the high E to the low E but using the fingers like so 4-3-2-1. This means that you press each with each finger, but not all at once.
